Earlier this week, President Trump told reporters in the United Nations that an impeachment would be "a positive for me in the election."
He's not alone in this theory; Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale was quoted as saying, “The misguided Democrat impeachment strategy … will only serve to embolden and energize President Trump’s supporters and create a landslide victory for the President.”
GOP Rep. Tom Emmer of Minnesota agreed, adding that “backing impeachment will cost Democrats their [House] majority in 2020."
The President's logic is sound. Impeachment is of course, generally an unpopular thing. In past polls, all Presidents who have been impeached or came close to it had support from the American people to not be impeached. In theory, the American people will rise up and resist the Democratic push for impeachment.
If anything, the backlash will generate more voter turnout for Trump and the GOP in the 2020 re-election. I know we all will rise up and do our part, and that should be more than enough to shut up these damn dems.
