Earlier this morning, President Trump revealed that he has been preventing the Chinese government from destroying the Hong Kong protests.
In a recent interview with Fox & Friends, President Trump told his interviewer that he has told President Xi Jinping to not send soldiers into Hong Kong because of the rippling effects it would have on their ongoing trade negotiations.
President Trump was quoted as saying, "If it weren't for me, Hong Kong would've been obliterated in 14 minutes... [Xi] has got a million soldiers standing outside of Hong Kong that aren't going in only because I asked him, 'Please don't do that, it's going to make a tremendous negative impact on the trade deal.'"
The President is adamant about the importance of negotiating a trade deal, saying, "We have to stand with Hong Kong, but I'm also standing with President Xi."
This is the first time that President Trump has publicly stated that he is responsible for preventing further violence in Hong Kong.
What do you think about the President's actions and words?
