Republican Senator from Kentucky Rand Paul stated earlier today that President Trump's announcement of a "permanent ceasefire" between the Kurdish & Turkey forces is an extraordinary breakthrough, and we have our great President to thank for it. Paul was quoted as saying that it was "amazing" that "we actually have a realignment in Turkey, in Syria, that may actually lead to peace for the first time in eight years."
President Trump was speaking at the White House earlier today about the conflict, stating that the conditions had been met by both sides for the sanctions on Ankara to be lifted. These sanctions were implemented following the invasion of Northern Syria.
The President was quoted as saying, "I do believe it will be permanent. This was an outcome created by us, the United States, and nobody else...we've done something very, very special."
It's important to note that Trump stated that if Turkey breached the ceasefire, the sanctions would immediately be reimposed.
What do you think about this ceasefire? Tactical or stupid?
