It’s almost Christmas time once again. It’s a time we prize for its joyful energy, and since it brings our families together!
Most of us can remember a darker time just a few years ago, when President Obama was at the helm, and it became a big social faux pas to utter the words “Merry Christmas”.
Fortunately, President Trump made it okay to say “Merry Christmas” once again, which is something that most Americans are thankful for.
Let’s go over how exactly he accomplished this through his charisma and exceptional leadership:
Background: The War on Christmas
Don’t know what we’re talking about with the assault on the concept of Christmas? Here’s a brief recap:
- The Democrats originally began the “War on Christmas” by trying to get businesses and individuals alike, especially folks in the government, to stop saying “Merry Christmas” and instead say “Happy Holidays”. (According to them, this marginalized people of different faiths.)
- The Democrats conveniently failed to recognize that Christmas is basically a universal holiday in America. (You don’t have to be a Christian to believe in the giving and family-oriented spirit of this holiday.)
- Unfortunately, the Democrats’ message was heard loud and clear by many people. Lots of businesses and politicians began decrying individuals who said “Merry Christmas”, even when they spoke the salutation with the best of intentions...
For a few years, mentions of Christmas practically dropped off the map, even when we got close to December 25. But all that changed when Trump came onto the scene and began running for president.

One of the biggest ways in which Trump connected to average American people was through his support of the Christmas holiday, and in particular his rejection of the idea that saying “Merry Christmas” was somehow harmful.
Indeed, he broadcast this message at practically every rally he went to throughout the holiday season of 2015. He constantly spoke about Christmas, wished “Merry Christmas” to his followers without worry, and even went so far as to call out the Democrats directly and shame them for being so ridiculous.
This message resonated with regular Americans beyond even many other popular ideas he had during that historic campaign. It reinvigorated many Americans’ spirits and gave them the confidence and courage to start saying “Merry Christmas” to one another once again.
Of course, we all know what happened: Trump won the Presidency in 2016 and Christmas became the de facto winter holiday once again.
Christmas Cheer and the Future
Over the last few years, Trump’s administration has made it safe for everyone to say “Merry Christmas” just like they used to.
This pushback against political correctness has been well received by the majority of Americans and it’s a trend we hope to see continue in the future.
However, it’s important that we all band together and not let the war on Christmas happen again. Regardless of who ends up in the White House, we need to resolve never to let something so silly water down our holiday season.
When you say, “Merry Christmas”, you’re wishing your fellow Americans a great holiday season, nothing more – remember that and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!
Thank you for reading... Merry Christmas, patriots!
