Earlier today, the Trump Administration announced that November was the sixth month in a row to have lower border arrests. They claim that Trump's strict new laws have been preventing migrants from attempting to illegally cross the border.
U.S. Border Patrol arrested 21,000 illegal immigrants attempting to cross the border in November, a dramatic decrease from the 133,000 migrants that were arrested in May. This was an unprecedented surge of U.S.-bound illegal immigrants attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border.
Acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan was quoted as saying, "They will no longer be allowed to exploit our laws and be allowed into our country based on fraudulent claims or because they arrive here with a child... Those loopholes have been closed."
The message that the administration wants to deliver to illegal migrants is "Remain Home". For asylum-seekers, Morgan states to try their southern neighboring country first.
Morgan concluded the statement with, "If you are a single adult who has illegally entered our country, we are going to detain you and make every effort to prosecute you for violating our sovereign laws."
What do you think about the effectiveness of President Trump's immigration policies?
